Well, it's about that time again I think. Lets have another Black Magic M-66 collection round up! In todays action packed issue we cover rare cells, promotional material and other miscellaneous stuff.

What we have here, is the 1993 UK PAL release from the now closed Kiseki Films. I like how the back blurb says they are "Dedicated to the propper dubbing of the japanese animation art form" that's a nice thought.

However, from the Wikipedia entry for Kiseki Films.
"Kiseki Films Australia were investigated by the Australian Federal Police after anime license holders in the UK and the USA, notably Viz Media, Pioneer UK, Western Connection and US Renditions complained about their versions of anime on VHS were being copied and then sold in Australia with the Kiseki label, without purchasing the licenses and paying the companies royalties."

Here we have what appears to be a flyer for the original release, probably for the home theater release (VHS/LD). I also really appreciate that somebody took the flyer, back in 1987 and kept it in such great condition. It's even in a hard plastic case. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Japan is home to some of the most careful collectors I've ever seen. Also the artwork seen on the front of this, turned up earlier in part one - as the back cover artwork for DVD and bootleg DVD.
I know right? This one is a little odd, it's a pencil case - which appears to have been a promotional item through something called the Emotion Family Club. Googling that leads us straight to Bandai who it seems run whatever the Emotion Family Club is. So it's entirely likely Bandai had a hand in the distribution and promotion of Black Magic M-66.
Also who exactly is waiting for my call?

This douga was sold without the actual cell, which was a bit disapointing.
This one on the other hand is missing the douga. Funny stuff.
And now we're back to no dogua again. Also with all of these cells where they only have the character on them, the background cell must exist somewhere out there. They're a lot rarer to come across though. the rarest cell would be a pan cell - an extra large one to move across for a long shot, if you see one of those for a anime you like. Buy it!
Now that I think about it, that laser just went through and melted the steel of the elevator from the bottom of the shaft. Is there a risk of retina damage from looking at it? I hope not for Sybel's sake. And the other nameless soldier in the elevator.
It wasn't possible to get a good shot of this one without glare on the cell, so instead you get the camera flash. I think it's pretty damn cool to be able to see outside of the frame that you saw in the anime. There's actually two layers for the characters, and the background light helicopter/military vehicle in this one. But I didn't want to chance pulling them apart as they seemed fragile. We can however take a closer look at the background.
Isn't the detail just amazing? I don't usually do this, but the staples for holding the character cells on had come out, so I moved it behind the cell for safe storage.
But whats that you say? You want to go deeper? Well okay then.
Since I don't want to pull the two character cells apart, this is as deep as we can go.
These, appear to be more detailed douga, with colouring information - for example where the darker shades fall. They also have a few notes here and there on them. I got these in a pack, and they're of one five secondish scene. Perhaps there are more packs like this lurking around the place?
It looks like someone got confused and drew the bandages on the wrong hand on the above right hand image.
And again on this one?
Maybe the white paper was a seperate set of drawings which got interfiled with the yellow ones.
If you look closely at the above ones they cover the movement from Sybel shaking Ferris as she trys to wake her up.
And the only other bit of movement in the scene, the leg of the M-66. So this pack of douga covered all of the movements in the scene where Sybel walks towards, squats down and shakes Ferris. It's entirely likely that there are also cells form this scene out there somewhere. I know I say that things probably exist out there somewhere a lot, but if you think about it - for me to be able to get hold of these bits and pieces a good what, 24 years later indicates that a ton of this still exists. I'd love to know how they got out into circulation though.
