Miscellaneous scans: Part 1

This post is also known as - odds and ends: scanning edition. I have a few major projects in the pipeline which are going to slow down my posting quite significantly. So I thought I'd make a post with a few of the more interesting bits and pieces I have lying around.

I like this alternate costume for Sakura, so I've put it in for no particular reason.
It's unused  apparently this is available as a mod or DLC?
Why the fuck was I not informed.

Comission - Metal Slug

Metal Slug, is a A grade arcade classic - so far it's run for about seven games starting in 1996 with a few spin off's here and there. Once in a blue moon when I pass through the arcade I usually play a round or two of this. Sure I get hammered after the first few stages to the tune of about ten bucks but hey - thats arcade gaming. 

Alternately I'm no good at Metal Slug.

Release #103 - The Legend of Zelda

[Strange Scans] takes it back to the (N64) classics with a release featuring none other than Zelda - 'NISEゼルダの伝説 真章'. I loved The Ocarina of Time on the n64 as a kid - it was just mind blowing from the first moment I played it in store. And then Majora's Mask after it? What an amazing followup. I'm sure most people will say OOT was better because it was the first one they played - but come on, MM was such a complex and quality sequel. Is there a poll for this somewhere I wonder?

PS: Does anyone remember the quest for that one zelda doujinshi a few years ago? It was like the holy fucking grail, and then some guy found it randomly in Tokyo.

Comission - The Misadventures of Tron Bonne

You know Tron Bonne, right? She's already had her own game on the PSX and she's in the (kind of) recent Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as a playable character. Anyway, she has a really cool reporter outfit on in one of the missions of the PSX game. Tron in glasses?

Release #103 - SHD Powerful Magical Girl Sweet Leona [Translation]

[Strange Scans] revisits the classic muscle girl artist SHD yet again with 'Powerful Magical Girl Sweet Leona'. Here's a hint, don't clean a doujinshi and then send off the uncleaned raw. You'll have to do it all over again, it was worth it though.

As a side note though - I don't want to be too nitpicky but has anyone ever noticed how the same kind of written content goes in every doujinshi? I should compile a list of most used words and phrases some day, it gets pretty ridiculious sometimes. Maybe my standards are skewed and I want more plot than porn?

Release #102 - Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

It's really quite good (and therefore) worth your time. You could also read the manga but from memory the translation was stalled after a few volumes.

Release #101 - Street Fighter

[Strange Scans] takes the fight to the streets with a doujinshi of an arcade classic - Street Fighter! (Also the title is 'PULP crybaby Sakura') the circle is PRETTY DOLLS who seem to have a fetish for Sakura and the impact font. Not that I don't like Sakura mind you - I mean I enjoy Chun Li doujinshi as much as the next person but there are other characters. Like Karin, Elena, Makoto - Poison?

Release #100 - 沙村広明 Sister Generator

[Strange Scans] hit's one hundred releases in style with a first, a tankobon release! This is a collection of six stories by Samura Hiroaki released in 2009 (Which is pretty recent for my scanning). I am not aware of it being translated, despite the baka updates cover having english text. It seems that the first chapter has been done, but I can't find it anywhere. It may have been already scanned somewhere, I could have sworn I saw a page or two from this floating around a while back but I'm not sure.

It was pretty exhausting to scan coming in at 213 pages. I decided to push the quality further too, so the pages are 1400x which pushes the overall size to enormous. (544mb). Don't let you put that off though, it really is worth a look. I don't usually do this but I've put some sample pages down below.

Release #099 - Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro

[Strange Scans] is proud to present, a Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro doujinshi, 密時!
Remember the other one? If you haven't read the manga this is based off you should really give it a shot. It's a pretty fun read and it runs to 24 volumes, I beleive I've only actually gotten up to 23. I should rectify that some day. I also want to get my hands on these doujinshi some day.

Release #098 - Ping Pong Club

[Strange Scans] is proud to present a pretty rare find, a Ping Pong Club doujinshi! I know right? Iwas surprised to find this one as well. I've never stumbled across any ping pong club fanart or doujinshi before this one. It would have to be about Iwashita of course because from memory there aren't any other females in the entire story bad a few brief gag characters.

Release #097 - From today onwards, I...! [Translation]

Release #096 - Miya Ogi [Translation]

[Strange Scans] keeps the ball rolling with  Desudesu to once again explore the works of Kogaino. You know, the ratio of happy sex/consensual to rape/non-consensual doujinshi is so low it's practically a fetish. I'd say the main theme of roughly 90% of the doujinshi I've seen, for really. But I digress.

Comission Final Fantasy IX - Lani/Ruby

Donor Projects

Well, I said I'd get around to the donor projects idea eventually and here we are. The first ones I'm putting up are; Shape Up Ran, Tsubaki Knight Club, Battle Girl Ai, Elf 17 and Mr. Clice. The idea here is that I'll run seperate tallys for donations for each of the manga, and when there's enough for a chapter - well I'll send it off and get one done. And list the donators in the credits page of course.

Release #095 - Dominion Tank Police OST USA

[Strange Scans] is proud to present, yet another OST release! This one is a bit of an unusual case, it's the Dominion Tank Police OST - but it's not the japanese one with the starndard tracks. It's the tracks exclusive to the american release - the into, puma dance song and the credits song. Or if you want the track listing.

The listed artist is 'Brown Eyes'. I have no idea who this actually is and the credits list the same thing, since Central Park Media aka Manga Corps have been gone since 2009 and this was almost two decades earlier (1992), I have little to no way of checking with anybody on this short of trying to contact the people listed in the credits - if you anything please let me know!

And here I was thinking it would be a character I like in some kind of a non H doujinshi being pretty normal and not getting raped. But apparently I'm not a good judge of such things.

So I've been musing over a few idea which I'd like to work on/enact in the future - and would like some feedback on them. Things like, muti-lingual translations, accepting donations (I just set that up anyway), selling scanned doujinshi, higher resolution releases and working on scaning/translating actual manga.

I have also attatched an image of a genderswaped Kenshiro above to catch your attention. Has it worked? Good. Follow after the jump for more words about the above subjects. (Or don't, it's not like I c-care or anything baka!)

Release #091 - Genshiken

[Strange Scans] racks up the numbers with another first - a Genshiken doujinshi! This one is H so read or don't read as is appropriate for your circumstances. You should probably also give Genshiken a go while you're at it. I'd advise the manga instead of the anime adaptation but then again I tend to go for source material. Enjoy!

Release #087 - Black Magic M-66 OST

[Strange Scans] is proud to present it's very first audio release, the Black Magic M-66 OST! I am aware that this has been ripped and released before, I'm not clear on how quality that release was actually. But why not have a crack at doing an OST release? I've put up two versions - one which is a 320kb MP3 rip at 90MB, and the other which is a FLAC at 252 MB. This also includes the insert/notes sheet.

Black Magic M-66: Part 3

A third Black Magic M-66 collection round up post? At the risk of seeming obsessive about such things. Why not? This time We'll be having a look at animation cels. Which, while they can be a bit expensive are pretty cool to collect. Mind you, it has to have been made somewhere before 2000 when cels were still in use.

I've been meaning to do this for a while, basically it's all of the scans I've done so far for Final Fantasy IX and all of the other hentai ones I've been collecting in one place - that is to say 43 so far. I haven't quite finished putting all of the hentai ones up yet so if you're interested keep an eye on it.

Of course, because it is H, if loli, tentacles, loli with tentacles, futa, futa tentacles or quina with a gigantic penis is likely to offend you stick to the SFW tag.

Release #084 - Final Fantasy IX

[Strange Scans] is proud to present, yet another Final Fantasy IX doujin! The name of this one is Magic Mooment! ... But like the other release with a misspelled english title. I've gone with what I think they were trying to say. So Magic Moment it is! 

I think, that there have been two waves of Final Fantasy IX doujinshi. The first wave being around the time of the games release - 2000ish and the second at around the time of Dissidia being released, 2008ish. 

The second wave seems to have inspired a lot of yaoi ...

Release #083 - Sailor Moon

[Strange Scans] goes back to the classics to bring you a Sailor Moon doujin - セーラームーンマガジン 2. The first few pages seem really yellow, but that's how they were printed, the rest of the book is just normal paper. I haven't seen that one before. Release #082 - Everything Fetishism (Yorozu fetishism) [Translation]

[Strange Scans] is back yet again, this time with a doujinshi by the name of 'Everything Fetishism' by the wonderful circle TTT.  This is actually a re-edit using a pre-existing script/edit as a base, the original was done by Mukyu Translations who supposedly had a blog here. But they've vanished now, so asking for their permission to re-edit is nigh on impossible. Anyway, as long as we're clear I didn't translate or scan this lets move on to the content.

Release #081 - Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water

[Strange Scans] is proud to present, Cel reference material from Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water! This is pretty much the same as the Black Magic Cel reference release except that this clocks in at an extra ten pages and it's mostly reference of the houses/vehicles from the first five or six episodes, instead of character sketches. They're in really nice detail too, I wonder if there are any other reference sketch packs out there for later on in the series?

Hopefully someone out there will use these to make some awesome fanart!

Release #080 - Black Magic M-66

[Strange Scans] is proud to present, something different from the usual doujinshi releases. For todays showcase we have what appears to be Cel reference material for Black Magic M-66. I'm not sure of the exact term for these, they're actually a stack of photocopies in a plastic case. My guess is that they're something between the pencil rouch sketch and the genga/douga animation cels. 

 It took a fair bit of cleaning to get them to this point, as you'd imagine for a stack of photocopies from who knows when, they could potentially be from around 1987 when the OVA was released. I did leave a few things in like staples and faded notes though. Also some of them have handwritten notes at a few points, as well as crosses and circle over certain parts of a few sketches.

Release #079 - Final Fantasy IX [Translation]

This is the final (geddit) re-release I have around for now. This time the lucky doujinshi is - Less Than X 9th. This one is kind of.. comedic hentai if that really works. Yet again though - not cleaning up the pages haunts me. I should really look at re-doing them one of these days.

Release #064 Part Two [Translation] - Metal Gear Solid

[Strange Scans] Travels for hours in cardboard boxes to present to you in english - Survival File 3! A Metal Gear Solid 2 doujin. This one is kind of light on content, the authors notes inside it are pretty apologetic about that. Now that I think about it though the notes inside a lot of doujin are humble about the content, anyway though this has pretty nice art. Translation done by Umad.
