One for the archives - Shintaro Kago - The Memories of Others (Translation)

A few years ago when I was just getting into editing/scanning I did a bit of typesetting for a guy called Caterpillar, from memory I met him through /a/. His field of interest was/is guro and Shintaro Kago's work. He used to have a site here but it's dead now. You can use the wayback machine archive though.

I stumbled upon it while digging in my archives earlier today, Kago does a lot of mindbendingly clever work - often messing with the structure of manga and story in ways that are totally unexpected and fun to read.
If you like this, consider reading more of his stuff!
I should probably also mention his stuff is completely NSFW, so keep that in mind!

Enjoy!

Release #069 Part Two - [Translation] Final Fantasy IX

[Strange Scans] delves back into the pile of Final Fantasy IX doujinshi to bring you (yes you!) a great little A5 doujinshi called FMG by the circle Flood of Emotions. It contains a few short stories/4koma that take place during and after Final Fantasy IX. The art style is very cool too - very honest, if I had to describe it.
(If you want the raw it's over here)

Also a colour flyer came with this - so I scanned it in as well, why not?

As it stands there is no Mugimugi entry for this group or doujinshi, but from the notes inside say, it was released in 2003. The translation for this was done by Rinruririn of the Little White Butterflies group, thanks again!

Enjoy!

Comission - KC Green (Various)

Have you heard of a web comic known as The Gunshow
It's being run by artist KC Green and is easily one of my favourites, Sweet visuals, clever writing and dark humor - what more could you want? I happened past KC's personal website a while ago to find there was a comissions information section, how would I resist?

Click clack through to see what happens when you give KC Green the theme of "Anime Soviet squad" and hope for the best.

Release #093 Part Two - [Translation] Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

So while I was looking around I found that a group had translated one of my earlier releases. So without further ado here is 日塔奈美な陵辱AAR aka release #093 in english, courtesy of Kamikakushi Translations!

This is a rape doujinshi and so is NSFW.

Commission - Final Fantasy IX/Sailor Moon

At a convention in 2011 I got a sketch done of Mikoto from Final Fantasy IX. Who is one of my favourite side characters. I must have scanned it in at some point because I found it while digging through my files looking for something else. (This happens a lot)

Said commission and a bonus Sailor Moon one after the break.
These are safe for work by the way.

Final Fantasy Distant Worlds

Have you heard of the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concerts?

Well they're a series of concerts being held under the direction of Arnie Roth and Nobuo Uematsu
I personally regard Nobuo as one of the grand masters of vidya music. I managed to - with the help of some friends get along to the concert in Adelaide (Australia) - it was amazing! A mindblowing two hour set of solid gold music.

I noticed, however - that on ebay people have been selling the programs from the previous ones?
Weird, well here is the Adelaide 2012 program - if and when I get around to it I'll put together a download of the songs played - I think that'd be pretty cool.

And in a zip file over here.
.
Bonus
I got some stuff signed!

Commission - Pack Mule (Original)

I actually got this done a while ago, but it seems I forgot to post it for some reason or the other.
It does not belong to any particular series, which is a first for me. Generally my commissions are from something. This time it was just a general theme 'Pack mule' which Boolyonzy graciously agreed to create for me!

Follow on after the jump to find out how it turned out!

(It's probably better to class it as NSFW)

Commission - Black Magic M-66

I've been quite busy with real life lately but I think there is always time for a comission from a good artist.
For today's item we look to Jeffrey Chamba Cruz.

Banjo Kazooie OST

Back in 1998 Rare released Banjo Kazooie on the N64 console.
At the time it was released it already had at least three or four years worth of development and a console change, which makes for an interesting backstory. Originally Banjo Kazooie started life as Project Dream on the SNES at some point in the early 90's. It slid onto the N64 at around 1995 when it was deemed too large for the SNES. Project Dream has, as far as I know never been leaked or shown to the public bar this one screenshot printed in.. actually I have no idea where it was printed.

Interesting isn't it? There is more over here at Unseen64 including snippets of information taken from the blog of one Grant Kirkhope, who did the music.

So, you collect golden jigsaw pieces to progress to new levels - fair enough. Ten per level, with one of them being collecting five jingoes hidden throught the level. There are also health bar upgrades in the form of hollow honeycombs hidden, one per level. Lets not forget 100 notes per level which do not save upon exit and re-entry to the level (Which I just read is because  "Saving the collection state of all 100 Notes in each world was apparently too much for N64 hardware." This was apparently changed on the Xbox Live re-release. Weak! Source) In summary, Rare fucking loved item collection,.

And as is the theme with these posts, the actual bit I am archiving/posting to share is the soundtrack. Which is of course awesome. The game is jammed full of unique bouncy tunes that perfectly compliment the levels they go with. Ideally of course you'd be hearing these tunes while playing the game, but I think they have enough merit to stand on their own.
Enjoy!

wipE'out" OST

Wipeout (or wipE'out") is a futuristic (Released over a decade ago) racing game from 1995 made by Psygnosis -who I seem to have some kind of bias towards. It's a well rounded game in my opinion - fun gameplay, amazing art design and brilliant music.

That said, I never got too far in wipeout, I could never get a hang of the controlls for the ships and I pretty much pinballed around the course the entire race. Which is weird because I do pretty well in F-Zero X. This isn't to say I didn't appreciate the game, mind you.

I'm a big fan of the visuals in wipeout, they're amazingly fresh and fun to look at. Some kind of futuristic blend of everything with a dash of japanese. I recently found out after years of thinking Psygnosis were insane geniuses on this one games art direction. That the design was actually handled by a company called The Designers Republic who are amazing. (Were amazing, sadly. They closed their doors in 2009) You can find a selection of their work to get inspired about over here.

I used to have a Retro Gamer article about the production of the game and the music but I can't seem to find it at the moment. One of the most interesting bits however, was that to get the feel for the sound they needed they took the sound guy clubbing.

So, withour further ado - here is the rip of the soundtrack from sources unknown.

(I took the cover scan from here)

Pilot Wings OST

I touched upon the Pilot Wings OST in an earlier post (NSFW), but it's so good I think it deserves a seperate archival post.

Pilotwings was a launch title for the N64 back in 1996 (Or march 1 1997 if you were in the PAL region) It was developed by Paradigm Entertainment in tandem with Nintendo. The gist of the development saga is covered on the wikipedia page. Company is good at graphics, Nintendo approaches them, a game is made. Now that I think about it, that's actually dead on with what they (Nintendo) did earlier on with Starfox on the SNES.

The soundtrack was composed by Dan Hess, and (in my opinion) is nothing less than a masterwork of smooth tunes. Some people have said to me that they find the slow paced music boring so, it's not for everyone clearly. But for me the relaxing tunes go perfectly with the game, even if it is sometimes juxtaposed with my mounting fustration in the cave levels. If you enjoy this you may also like the Chrono Trigger jazz remix album. Track one is over here.

As a side note according to the wikipedia page Paradigm Entertainment was closed by THQ in 2008. Not many companies seem to last long in the video game world. If I have the time I'll make a flow chart some day.

Edit: I found those scans I mentioned. Wait no, somehow I didn't mention them.
The pages below are from Retro Gamer a british magazine which covers the old school, at one point Pilot WIngs 64 got a two page spread and they tracked down some of the people involved in making it.

Click on them for the larger image that you can actually read!

Enjoy!

Pandemonium 2 OST

For today's archival we're continuing right on from yesterday with the soundtrack of Pandemonium 2. Which is as you may have guessed, the sequel to Pandemonium! It was released on the PS1 in 1997/8 (depending on where you live) it was also ported to PC. There was going tobe a Sega Saturn port as well but it never materialised for some reason.

As you may have noticed from the cover someone decided that Nikki needed more bucket load more sex appeal, I'm not sure I really agree she needed it personally - oh well. It is perhaps less unrelentingly hard than the first game, but that dosen't nessacarily mean it's better - I'm on the fence about that. Also as with the last game whoever did the level design is a champ, the bizzare spacey levels are amazingly memorable and fun.

Moving right along - as with the last post, I did not rip this - rather jwitz over at Emuparadise forums did. So go there and give him your thanks. This is an archival backup to hopefully spread a bit of awareness about a great game.

Also as you may have guessed I love platformers.

Pandemonium! OST

Back in 1996/7 (depending on where you live) Crystal Dynamics released Pandemonium! a psuedo 3d side scrolling platformer for the PS1. I never got much of a chance to play it when it was released due to various reasons, but when I did get around to tracking it down years later I found that it was by far one of the best platformers I had played.

The simple yet highly functional gameplay mechanics along with amazingly well designed stages, and tight gameplay made a challenging and fun game. It and other PS1 era platformers, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and nothing short of gaming gold. Gold I tell you.

Well I had a look around and eventually found the OST for the game - and here it is. This is an archival - not a release and I didn't rip this. The source appears to be steve2606 over on FFshrine.org (here) In the interests of getting this fun little soundtrack out there I've stuck the cover image in the folder and rehosted it.

Commission - Pilotwings 64

It takes me a while to get a comission organized. Apart from selecting the best available artist - this time it's the excelent Sr Joi, I spend most of my time agonizing over who to comission artwork of. I finally decided to get a comission of a character I've been planning to for a while - Ibis from Pilotwings 64!

Four for the archive

So I found this while going through Mugimugi earlier.
A Final Fantasy IX doujinshi I haven't heard of which was released in 2012? Hoo-leee shit.

Hold your horses and dash your hopes though, because it's pretty awful. For starters it's not actually a japanese doujinshi and it's never been physically released. It was done by an artist called Nekomanta (HentaiFoundry) and is being offered for download on his blogspot

It's absoloutely riddled with misspellings, wonky art and as you can probably guess, hard lolicon. If inflation, hard loli and an out of chracter Garnet are your thing though - this is right up your alley. Honestly the only reason I'm mentioning this at all is because it somehow has a Mugimugi entry (and I like to be very thorough). The fact that it actually has a Mugimugi seems to indicate someone has deemed it worthy of one so, take from that what you want. I'm not going to reupload this one because it's loli. But it is on 4shared and ExHentai.

4Shared (Requires registration - which take about ten seconds)
ExHentai Gallery (Requires E-Hentai account)

Moving right along though Little White Butterflies have been hard at work translating ZIZ's genderswap Kuja doujinshi. They're futa or yaoi depending on how you look at that issue, so you are now forewarned. I've put them below, again for the sake of completeness using the links LWB has put up.

Release #058 Part Two - [Translation] Final Fantasy IX

[Strange Scans] is proud to present - a non hentai Final Fantasy IX doujin release! This one is called "I want to be your kitten" by the circle Sougetsu Kagekidan and was made possible thanks to the translation skills of desudesu

This is the first of a trillogy of doujinshi. Unfortunately I got them translated out of order - the second one (which I got done first) is over here. And the third and isn't translated yet.  It also seems that this series does not have a mugimugi entry yet.

Anyway, enjoy your Mikoto!

Part One - I want to be your kitten. (You are here)
Part Two - Maiden Prayer.
Part Three - Fragrance of Olden Times.

One for the archive.

So I went digging in my archives again and found another oddity. This time it's a 14 page lrough draft (?) of a Final Fantasy 9 doujinshi. Going by my notes I saved this back in 2006 from Yachiko. I'm unsure if it is still on the site but according to my records this is the source. It's also entirely possible this has since been published and I don't have it. I put it up on a DDL for archival ppurposes.

It's quite nicely done, if you're a Final Fantasy 9 fan you should give it a look.
But don't take my word for it! See the images below!

In other news

I've had a lot of business to take care of lately so things have been a bit slower than I had planned. However I'm in the clear for a bit so I got around to changing some things I've been meaning to for a while.

All releases including ones posted prior to the DDL server now have a DDL link alongside the usual Mediafire/E-Hentai combo. So even in the event of Megaupload's demise being replicated there will still be links live.

Due to some confusion on what has and hasn't been translated. I took the time to go back through and make sure all translated scans link to the translation post and vice versa. (In case anyone wants to confirm the translation with the raw or something)

Tags now show in the sidebar down the right hand side, hopefully this will be usefull for sifting through the releases on here. I'll go back and make sure all of the tags are accurate and add some more in the next day or so.

Formatting for the text only page has been fixed a bunch and looks a lot less shitty.

If you have any suggestions, questions or comments with regards to my work leave a comment or send me an email about it! strangescans[at]gmail.com

Release #114 - Black Lagoon [Translation]

[Strange Scans] is proud to present - a Black Lagoon swimsuit book! Contrary to the image below it's actually in black and white, also it's only eight pages. I edited this one back in 2009-ish under another name. So this is retroactive release, but it's still legit. Fyi: I haven't uploaded it on E-Hentai - rather I've linked to the upload of the guy who comissioned the translation because really, it's his comission.

Also I fixed a spelling mistake, so this is like. The super deluxe edition.

Mediafire

Edit: It seems that there is a coloured version of this book released as part of The Book of Venom which is over here - E-Hentai Gallery. That would be the colouring Tex-Mex is thanking Iron Tiger for if I'm any guess. The following image is an example of said colouring. Note the slightly larger size due to less cropping.

No text, awesome. It seems it's not as vibrant as the web version but whatever. The only difference is that now the Eda/Revy page now has roberta from another page, which is now a solo roberta page. (Which is hardly a bad thing) If by chance you just want the pages featured in the swimsuit book in colour I've uploaded those over here.

Release #112 - Yorozu fetishism 2 [Translation]

[Strange Scans] is proud to present - yet another TTT doujinshi! This time it's "Yorozu Fetishism 2", you may remember the first one which I did a deluxe re-edit of a while ago over here. This is probably going to be the last TTT doujinshi I get translated for a while. Along with all of the usual TTT content this one also contains watersports so - you know what they say, forewarned is forearmed. Also it's pretty cool to find some 3x3 Eyes stuff.

This post is Chensafe

Mediafire

Also - from Desudesu

"Second part of the doujin is based on Sansha Sanyou (三者三葉). The long haired girl is Youko Nishikawa, an ojou-sama rich daddy archetype girl, but her father’s business went down under and now her family’s broke. She’s pretty naive and is god awful at cooking, which explains a joke in that part of the doujin :V"

The more you know.

Release #111 - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya [Translation]

[Strange Scans] is as always proud to present a Haruhi doujinshi - "Yukinko LOVER".
Praise for the translation goes (Also as usual) to Desudesu. So as per other TTT material this contains feet, armpits, sweat and smell fetish. It also brings us up to a TTT trifecta now that I think about it. So be forewarned if that kind of stuff is not within your interests. I'm nearly done with TTT for now, there's still a few things left to clear up though.

Release #110 - Fate Stay Night [Translation]

[Strange Scans] is proud to present - another Fate/stay Night doujinshi! This one is called "Hitazura Fetish FATE hen". As usual this release was made possible by the translation of Desudesu. This is a pretty short one from the TTT circle, (Editors note: See issue #082 and #109) I'm definetly looking at getting some more of their material translated in the future. This is exclusively yuri smell/sweat fetish. If that's your deal - enjoy!

[Strange Scans] is proud to present with the assistance of the one and only Desudesu. A Fate/stay night doujinshi - "CUTIE"! This circle who did this one - TTT is a personal favourite of mine. As with the other TTT doujinshi I posted, this contains yuri themed armpits/feet and sweat/smell fetish, so you know. You've been warned.

Also on page 28 he mentiones using the art on the page as the cover for a copybook - which was apparenly "makidera falls in love". (Mugimugi) I wonder that was in it?

Release #108 - Galaxy Express 999 Volume 1 Part Two

I got a email a little while ago saying that some of the files I have hosted at Mediafire have been suspended and deleted, upon inspection it seems I've received a DMCA or Digital Millennium Copyright Act notice in regards to Galaxy Express 999.

patchoulis_face_when.png

I know right? Well, seeing as it's a fully legal takedown notice - I'm going to have to let it be. Lest Mediafire delete the rest of my stuff or something. Which is an eventuality I'd really rather avoid. It has however made me re-think my reliance on their hosting. (And I know they're still a good service despite this) When I have the time I will get around to rehosting all of my earlier doujinshi on my DDL server as a contingency plan.

In other news; yes releases are slowing down lately. I'm sorry about that but this is a project that I run in my spare time, which I haven't had so much of lately. That and it's a good idea to keep on top of things in real life. I do however have some things in the works (As usual) and I hope you'll stick around to see them happen,

Donor Projects: Update. Updated!

You may recall a while ago I made mention of donor projects. Where I hoped to get donations for interesting raws I'd gotten hold of in lieu of coughing up large amounts of money for entire volumes to be translated. (It's been slow). Well I've procured through a raws despository the first volume of Shape Up Ran - a charming gag manga written by Masaya Tokuhiro about a girl into body building and, well - a whole range of bizarre things. The following image is the only english language summary of the plot I have.

I have no idea who originally did these scans and there are no notecards or images, so it could very well have been one of those japanese p2p nets I keep hearing about. It dosen't really matter as long as we're clear I'm not taking credit for the scanning. I did however give it a bit of a scrub. It's going to need more work before it heads off to be translated, but I don't have the time for that at the moment. Please do give this a read it if seems at all interesting!

Now with Volume two!

Release #108 - Galaxy Express 999 Volume 1

[Strange Scans] is proud to present, Galaxy Express 999 volume 1! This is the 1998 Dark Horse english release, which has been out of print for a good fourteen years now as far as I am aware. This scan is for archival purposes only, do not download unless you own a copy of the manga. If you do not please consider purchasing a copy to support the distribution of manga and show your appreciation for the work of Leiji Matsumoto.

I've always liked Leiji's work, ever since I heard of "Galaxy Express 999: The end of infinity" which I recall seeing this advertised alongside Urotsukidōji (Which was a fair while ago now). He has a very unique style, which I really enjoy. He also draws really nice women - just look at Maetel! Classic stuff. Maybe I should have a dig around for some related doujinshi.

Also the notes inside indicate that "For the Purposes of publication in English, the artwork in this graphic novel appears in reverse of the original Japanese version." - I find that a bit disapointing honestly.

Enjoy!

This circle has done a few Sailor Moon doujinshi from what mugimugi seems to indicate, I have a feeling I have one of the others in storage somewhere. Release #106 - Kabu no Isaki Volume 1

[Strange Scans] is proud to present - the first volume of Kabu no Isaki! A rescanning project that would not have been possible without the translation and editing assistance of  dou - thanks again guys! This is the tankobon scan of the first volume with quite a large amount of translation fixes applied - some of which have a reasonable impact on the plot of the story. So if you've read the existing scan this will be different. There is some banding in the scans - sorry about that, it appears to be a problem with my scanner.

If you don't know Kabu no Isaki you may know the author - Hitoshi Ashinano, from his other amazing work Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō also known as YKK.

"How did this happen? The surface of the earth has become ten times larger, so you need a plane to get around this giant world! Meet Isaki, who pilots a Piper Super Cub. Accompanied by his neighbors, the sisters Shiro-san and Kajika, today's another enjoyably mellow and wholesome day!".
How could you not read it after a write up like that?

Enjoy!
